Helmed by one of the greatest action stars in history, Mission: Impossible is a franchise that has cranked out hit after hit for nearly three decades. Tom Cruise’s dedication to his craft has led to jaw-dropping stunts that somehow grow in intensity with every installment. Where other filmmakers have relied on CGI to make their stars look good, Tom Cruise has insisted on being a true action hero. Combine that with stellar locations, a charming supporting cast, and a theme song for the ages, and you’ve got an instant hit on your hands.
It’s not quite the game-changer that many other franchise starters have been in the past, but tense and fun action sequences along with Tom Cruise’s star power make this worth the watch.
This might be a better movie if you watched it without audio – it looks great, but the script is atrociously cliché.
Maybe the best entry in the series to date, M:I:3 has killer visuals, an unforgettable villain, and emotional stakes that you actually care about.
Tom Cruise brings his A-game once again for a thrill-injected blast of a film.
Another impossible hit with top-notch action, a stronger dose of humour (thanks to both Sean Pegg and Cruise himself), and a killer ending. The best M:I apart from #3.
It’s got everything a M:I movie needs: thrills, laughs, and tons of running. It also feels more like a narrative culmination than any of its predecessors.
In a world of ever-growing CGI and deepfake insanity, the unstoppable Tom Cruise brings us another authentic and heart-stopping joyride - all while telling a story about the danger of a cinematic future without him.
